This workshop is organized by Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s AIDS INTERNATIONAL TRAINING & RESEARCH PROGRAM
(AITRP); cosponsored by Einstein/MMC Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (TISS)

The purpose of this two week (10 days) social and behavioral workshop is to provide a forum in which current & future HIV/AIDS researchers can learn from each other, gain perspectives on the topic and establish new venues for collaborations.

The premise of the workshop is to gain a deeper understanding of issues related HIV/AIDS research with vulnerable population, gather insight into various social and behavioral theories that inform this research, learn different methodologies presently being utilized and discover new possible research directions through a mix of lectures, and planned projects. These are subsumed under three major headings of 1) Orphans & Vulnerable Children; 2) Families Living with & affected by HIV/AIDS; 3) Women
and HIV/AIDS.

Applicants would learn about all three topics and choose one topic to develop a proposal for potential funding with a faculty member. Registration is free, food will be provided at the venue and those selected (10 participants) will receive a stipend for travel and boarding expenses (if travelling from outside of Mumbai) Applicants must hold an advanced degree or be enrolled in a doctoral program (ABD level).
Direct involvement in patient-centered research with current or planned projects in HIV/AIDS will be viewed favorable.

2. A personal statement describing career goals and how this work shop can help achieve those goals (1 page maximum)
3. An expressed research interest in one of the three above mentioned topics with a brief description of a study question;
specific aims and a research plan (2 pages maximum)
