C my frnd i kow it is tough to change ur line of specialization n when u go out for hunting of job it is nt @all a cake walk to just go to any company and ask for a job! n if u hve applied for banking operation n mah frnd don't forget banking does have marketing operations in it..If you think you have tht caliber and confidence to explain dem about wht attracts you more in bank tht 2 in marketing section den it may b a chance of getting a clean chit for u
putting myself in ur shoes i would hve tried to xplain dem the importance of growing banking facilities..nw banks hve nt only been a place where our money is been store n all old stuff but nw Customer service ..and many other part of it hs grown through marketing...so frm ur major degree you cn help the bank in um part of marketing..and as minor finance is concern..if u r good @accountancy work n you will have a good chance for asking a good package wth them..one more thing if this dnt work for u den just let dem know ur strengths tht is ur base of science n major..i believe it wont b tht tough for ya! anyway...All the Best!
