IBM, in collaboration with its business partners, has announced
“The Great Mind Challenge 2009,” a contest which provides a platform for students to become adaptive innovators.
K.L.N. College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu, was the winner of the 2008 challenge. This contest will enable participants to get hands-on experience on IBM software products such as Tivoli, Information Management, and Eclipse. Mentors from IBM and the college faculty will guide the students.
TGMC 2008 had nearly 50,000 students from 1,400 colleges participating. The winning team developed a project named City without Crime, an online comprehensive crime reporting system to engage public, NGOs, police and government agencies to be more quick, pro-active and responsive to fight crime and criminals.
TGMC 2009 will be more extensive with a revamped website, activities on social networking websites and college campuses. The top five teams will present their project to key executives from the IBM India Software Lab. Registrations began in May and the challenge will conclude by December.
