PG in Automotive Engineering: Anna University+National University of SIngapore
Anna University will be joining hands with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to offer a postgraduate program in automotive engineering.
Vice-Chancellor Mannar Jawahar addressing the delegates of Australian education institutions at a seminar on ‘International Partnership in Education,’ organised by the Australian Trade Commission, he said the course would be offered in co-ordination with the automobile industries in India.
“The students will spend the first semester in the parent university, and for the second semester they will go to the other university. In the third and fourth semesters, all the students of both the universities will undergo internship in the automotive industries in India. The students will be awarded the joint degree with logos of both institutions,” he said.
Credit-based curriculum
He said Anna University was also exploring the possibility of having joint undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs with the institution abroad, besides the joint credit-based curriculum for the exchange of students.
Aminur Rahman, Consul-General and Trade Commissioner, Australian Trade Commission, said the Memorandum of Understandings signed by Australian universities with their Indian counterparts should result in creation of centres of excellence.
“The bilateral trade has touched A$11 billion. Australia’s investment in India stands at A$4.5 billion, while India’s investment in Australia is A$1 billion. This shows the strong trade and business link between both the countries,” he said.
Up to September 2008, 85,000 Indian students were studying in Australia, and it proved that Australia was the second preferred destination after the U.S. for education.
