It seems to be a little early to write on this..but, what with the advance-booking-economical-pricing offered by airways and railways, its right on time! Besides All work and No Play is totally unacceptable
You see quite a few tired, stressed and bored souls go through the drudgery of day-to-day activities with a single salvation in mind - Holidays!
Often in the midst of some activity their thoughts drift to that perfect holiday- it could be anything from just unwinding and reconnecting with spouse and children, fun with friends or savour Mother Nature at her best or an adrenalin pumping adventure-packed trip. Irrespective of objective, company and destination- that perfect holiday will remain elusive and a disaster could easily take its place. What could go wrong, you wonder. Well, anything from falling ill, not knowing how to enjoy the place upon reaching there, or what if you lose our luggage (which is definitely not uncommon) and when questioned regarding its contents your mind simply goes simply blank. Yes, sir! You do not remember what you threw in at the last minute. A comprehensive list will be too long. Better to concentrate on how to prevent such holiday-ruining situations.
1. Starting with the travel plans, make sure you have everything in order. In case you have to switch flights, be sure to have ample time between them, so as to not miss one and spend precious holiday time in an airport waiting for morosely for the next. Oh, no! That is not the way to start the perfect holiday of your dreams.
2. the most important but understated pointer to a peaceful holiday- Packing. No, not more, but sensible.
To do so,-
(I) Research about your destination in advance, especially the climate and carry clothes accordingly.
(II) Pack your toiletries, medications, if any, other vitamins, and other general medicine.
(III) Don't forget your lotion- body lotion, mosquito repellent and other indispensable oils.
(IV) Most importantly, (for people with sight problems). Pack your spectacle case, contact lens solution and its case.
(V) If you are the forgetful absent-minded professor types, then prepare a checklist well in advance.
3. Remember that kids get restless at an unbelievable pace, so in case they are a part of the trip, make sure you carry something to keep them entertained- an engaging comic book of their preference, a puzzle or some easy-to-carry board games. Try avoiding portable video games, which will spell monotony and instead come up with something creative and include the human element.
4. Water - Get to know the kind of water available there. In case you do not find it satisfactory for drinking purposes- you can carry/but bottled water or a simple solution would be to boil it.
5. If you will be visiting someone and plan on gifting them, do not keep the gift shopping for last minute.
6. Most importantly, if you are travelling as a crowd at one point or other, chances are that tempers may flare; follow the "grin and bear" policy, no point getting annoyed, and better to have a positive or humorous outlook.
All these tips will prove to be highly useful- but do not promise an enjoyable and memorable holiday. That perfect holiday of your dreams will be rejuvenating and when you look back it will almost be a holy-day (s) in its own right. But the key to this lies completely in your hands and the key to this lock is simple- Keep in mind that it not just the place but also about the people around you. So go ahead and have 100% unadulterated fun with them.
