Education: Destination Canada I

Of late, Canada is becoming more and more popular educational destination for ambitious Indian students.
The primary causes for this is that in Canadian universities are public funded with academic autonomy and most importantly charge an affordable fee.
Canada has about 90 universities and majority of them deliver quality education. As mentioned earlier, they charge an affordable fee, much lesser than the US. Moreover , many educational insitutes provide facilities for work experience through part-time jobs. This is viewed as an excellent oppurtunity by the students. Also, a good number of students of diverse backgrounds from across the globe, forms a multicultural atmosphere and fosters a global outlook among the students.
The academic year is usually from September to May. A number of universitites provide live on-campus facility too. Students are also offered work on-campus (for eg. in the library) to earn (this does not require a formal work-permit. Apart from this the universities permit off-campus work for apto 20 hours per week which helps them in not just earning while studying to support themselves, but also gives them good work experience. However, this does require a work permit which will usually be valid for the tenure of study permit. ALl such facts put together make Canada an excellent choice for education among aspiring students.
Note: Similar to the Social Security NUmber in USA, the Social Insurance Number (SIN) is required in Canada to work and have govt benefits, etc. Along with a nominal processing fee the respective application must be submitted.
