Management aptitude test

Posted 09-20-2009 at 01:28 PM by ichkoguy

The gateways to being a management student are not singularly restricted to the CAT exam. There are many other tests that gauge the aptitude of an aspirant and there are a plethora of colleges who accept the scores of such exams. Relatively easier as far as the degree of difficulty of questions is concerned, MAT can turn into an acid test given the level of endurance required to score well.

Since 1988 the All India Management Aptitude Testing Service has been conducting the Management Aptitude Test participative by more than 150 colleges. Held four times in a year The MAT exam has been certified by the government of India as National Entrance Test for submissions to MBA or programmes of equivalent weightage. Colleges providing with MBA curriculums or equivalent degrees can participate into this curriculum. The MAT allied colleges also offer certain degrees like Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), Post Graduate diploma in Information Technology (PGDMIT), Post Graduate Diploma in communication, in Human Resources, in finance and Marketing.

The pattern of the tests is like that of other management entrance exams includes the quantitative ability, Data interpretation and Logical reasoning, Verbal Ability and General Awareness. The time limit is of two and a half hours .The eligibility criteria for MAT exam is to be a graduate in any discipline or even the final year graduation students can also apply.

The stress of this exam is basically on the endurance of a particular aspirant on the fact that how much he can hold his nerves for the span of two and a half hours .Its the best to make time bound goals after splitting the entire time span into distinct short time spans other wise it would be very difficult to reach the goal of attending 90 odd questions correctly and getting a healthy composite score and a decent percentile. The exam of Management Aptitude Test is though not as difficult as that of CAT or certain other exams but the main thing about CAT is the ability to answer many questions within the short time span and that 2 correctly. Because each question has 4 marks allotted to it while every question wrongly answered causes a penalty for 1 mark. So the main aim should be to correctly answer as many questions as possible minimizing the wrongs.

The bottom line being a person to be successful with Management Aptitude Test must be able has two weapons up his arsenal. These two weapons are accuracy and speed.

These skills can be attained by repeated practice. The more one can practice the better it would be for him. A person must always practice with a watch in front of him. He must make sure that he keeps up to the settled time. A person must make sure before he actually dives into the process of developing speed and accuracy is that of clearing concepts of the mentioned sections. A person must be conversant with the current affairs and other general awareness topics to ace the general awareness section. The person before sitting for the original test must try out a number of mock tests to develop the accuracy.
